In the draft “Uzbekistan – 2030” Strategy, prevention is treated as a priority approach to improving public health. The document sets clear goals and indicators aimed at early detection of non-communicable diseases that are widespread among people aged 40 and older.
In line with the Strategy, efforts to detect diabetes and arterial hypertension early will be significantly intensified. In particular, the goal is to raise early diabetes detection among citizens over 40 to 70%, and to bring early detection of high blood pressure to 70% as well. This will help reduce severe complications, improve treatment effectiveness, and lower the risk of premature death.
The draft also identifies the development of the blood service system as an important task. It is planned to increase the volume of collected blood to 450,000 liters, enabling stable provision of blood components needed for emergency care, surgical procedures, and treatment of various diseases.
Supporting healthy ageing is also in the spotlight. Under the Strategy, at least 90% of the population aged 55 and older is planned to undergo regular annual preventive medical check-ups and health improvement measures. At the same time, the goal is to increase physical activity among people over 40 to 50%; these indicators will be assessed through special studies every five years.
These measures aim to expand opportunities for early disease detection, promote a healthy lifestyle, and gradually improve overall health indicators in the country.
