Fines for pharmacy violations have increased

In Uzbekistan, liability measures for violating the procedure for selling prescription drugs containing potent substances have been significantly tightened. According to new legislative amendments, fines for violations committed by pharmacy staff have been doubled. While previously the fine for this offense ranged from 50 to 100 times the base calculation amount, it is now set between 100 and 200 times. As of March 2026, given that the base calculation amount in our country is 412,000 soums, violators will have to pay very large fines.

Furthermore, criminal liability for repeat offenses has been strengthened. If illegal sale of drugs in large quantities is detected after administrative penalties have been applied, the guilty parties may face fines ranging from 200 to 300 times the base calculation amount. Additionally, the court may impose up to 3 years of correctional labor, 2 to 5 years of restriction of liberty, or up to 5 years of imprisonment. Previously, the minimum fine under criminal liability was 100 times the base amount, and the new order serves to further strengthen control in this area.

These measures are being implemented to protect public health, especially to prevent the illegal circulation of potent drugs among youth. State bodies aim to strengthen control over the prescription-based sale of drugs in pharmacies and fight against violations uncompromisingly. Citizens are requested to strictly follow the established rules when purchasing drugs and not to consume potent substances without a doctor's recommendation.
