Shavkat Mirziyoyev preparing for May 9 and strengthening the military system

As the Supreme Commander-in-Chief of the Armed Forces of Uzbekistan, Shavkat Mirziyoyev was briefed on social support for military personnel, the improvement of the reserve and backup officer training system, and preparations for May 9 – the Day of Remembrance and Honor.

According to the plan, it is proposed that participants and disabled veterans of the Second World War receive a one-time cash award of 30 million soums this year. This decision is aimed at further increasing attention to war veterans.

At the same time, during the holiday days, special respect will be shown to war participants, home front labor veterans, the elderly, and teachers; the homes of lonely and low-income veterans will be renovated, and remembrance events will be organized on a large scale.

The memory of the defenders of the Motherland who perished while performing their duty during the years of independence will also be honored. Measures to provide material and spiritual assistance to their family members will continue systematically.

As part of social support in the defense system, monthly allowances for officers based on years of service will be doubled. The monthly salaries of soldiers and sergeants serving under contract will be increased by 10 percent.

Currently, reserve officers are being trained in 42 directions across 4 higher education institutions and 2 higher military education institutions. Additionally, it is planned to establish 5 more military training centers based at Urgench, Termiz, and Andijan State Universities, the Samarkand Institute of Economics and Service, and the Andijan State Medical Institute.

Furthermore, a 3-year bachelor's system will be introduced in state higher education institutions under the 'pre-conscription military training' direction to expand the preparation of reserve and backup officers. At the Military Medical Institute, special military training opportunities will be created for students admitted to clinical residency and master's programs, and this system will also be applied to non-state higher education institutions.

The updated approach is aimed at strengthening the country's defense potential and bringing the support system for military personnel to a new level.
