The Russian company Kaspersky Lab has discovered a previously unknown Trojan virus that steals data from photos on smartphones. Vedomosti wrote about this.
It is noted that the virus was found in 20 fake messenger applications, artificial intelligence assistants, food delivery applications and cryptocurrency applications downloaded through the App Store and Google Play.
According to the company, the Trojan viruses were downloaded more than 242 thousand times through Google Play.
Kaspersky Lab specialists named the Trojan SparkCat. Once downloaded and launched on a smartphone, the fake app asks for permission to view photos and uses optical character recognition (OCR) software to analyze text in images from the gallery.
The virus finds keywords and passes them on to the scammers. The virus is interested in any sensitive information - passwords for applications, documents, screenshots with keywords for recovering crypto wallets, and more.
According to experts, this is the first case of such a Trojan appearing on iPhone smartphones. Follow “Zamin” news on “Telegram”
