Israel has struck a Hezbollah tunnel on the border with Syria and Lebanon. The tunnel is said to be used for arms smuggling, the Israel Defense Forces said.
Israeli intelligence said the facility was used to deliver weapons in the Bekaa region and had been attacked before. The strike destroyed several ammunition and missile depots that posed a "direct threat" to security.

The operation was carried out despite a ceasefire between Israel and Lebanon. The Israeli army said it was ready to continue operations aimed at eliminating threats and preventing the group from regaining its military capabilities.
Israel-Hezbollah agreement
On November 27, 2024, after almost 14 months of continuous attacks between Israel and Lebanon, a ceasefire agreement proposed by the United States came into effect. Before ratifying the agreement, Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu addressed the nation, explaining the need for a ceasefire on the northern front. He stressed that if Hezbollah violates the truce, Israel will respond and resume hostilities.
According to the US-proposed peace plan, within 60 days, the Lebanese army should occupy the territory in the south of the country, and Hezbollah forces and infrastructure should be transferred to the northern part of the Litani River, located 20-30 kilometers from the Israeli border.
However, the Jewish state was the first to break this truce
In January, Israeli soldiers violated the ceasefire by burning down houses in the southern Lebanese town of Aitarun, where they were supposed to withdraw their forces. Citizens are prohibited from returning to Aitarun until the Israeli troops are fully withdrawn and the situation stabilizes.
Netanyahu's office stressed that the process of withdrawing Israeli forces is linked to the deployment of the Lebanese army in the south of the country and the full and effective implementation of the agreement by pushing Hezbollah forces and infrastructure north of the Litani River.
Since the ceasefire agreement has not yet been fully implemented by Lebanon, the phased withdrawal process will continue in full coordination with the United States, the prime minister's office clarified.
According to the Lebanese Ministry of Health, 28 people have been killed and 216 injured in Israeli attacks since January 26. Follow “Zamin” news on “Telegram”
