"Nightmare" in the USA: about 10,000 officials were fired
More than 9,500 officials were laid off in the United States in one week, Reuters reported.

It is noted that the exact scale of the layoffs has not yet been determined, but at least more than 9,500 employees were laid off this week. They worked in about a dozen departments and agencies.

In particular, about 1,200-2,000 people were laid off in the Ministry of Energy (including employees of the department responsible for the nuclear arsenal). The Ministry of Internal Affairs lost 2,300 employees, and the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention lost about 1,300 employees. The number of layoffs in the Ministry of Agriculture is not yet known.

The cuts also affected the departments of small business and education.

According to Reuters, the layoffs are part of a campaign by US President Donald Trump and the head of the US Department of Government Efficiency, Elon Musk, to drastically reduce bureaucracy.

On January 23, The New York Times reported that Trump could lay off more than 50,000 civil servants. This decision could lead to major changes in the composition of the federal workforce.

Later, according to a source from NBC News, more than 60,000 officials agreed to voluntarily resign in exchange for compensation. They were offered the opportunity to keep eight months of salary and benefits for eight months.

Earlier, lawyers noted that Elon Musk's work in the Trump administration could be a "nightmare."
