Will the US convince Russia, and Europe will send in peacekeeping forces?

Will the US convince Russia, and Europe will send in peacekeeping forces?
This week, Macron and Starmer took turns receiving Trump. It is clear that there are points of agreement between Washington, London and Paris on the war in Ukraine, but serious differences remain on some issues. Political scientist Farhod Tolipov expressed his views on the culmination of the Russia-Ukraine war and US-European negotiations.

On Monday, February 24, Macron became the first European leader to visit the White House since Trump was elected. They noted that a peace agreement could be discussed in the coming weeks. While Trump's position is based more on mediation, Macron is in favor of increasing direct European involvement.

The main difference is that Trump has not made any firm statements on specific security guarantees or military assistance. While he favors a negotiated peace, Paris, as part of the European Union, has expressed its commitment to strengthening Ukraine's defense.

According to Farkhod Tolipov, Britain, France, and Germany may now be jointly developing a concept for sending peacekeeping forces to Ukraine and protecting Kiev.

“Although Macron and Trump's views do not coincide, there is a sense of harmony in the fact that the main goal of both sides is to achieve peace.

Also, if Trump and Zelensky reach an agreement on rare metals, the US will, of course, invest in Ukraine and may need to deploy peacekeeping forces in the region to protect its interests,” Tolipov said.

After Macron, British Prime Minister Keir Starmer also tried to influence Trump. Starmer's meeting with Trump took place on February 27. The British Prime Minister, like Macron, expressed his unanimity with European leaders.

Recall that today, February 28, Volodymyr Zelensky also met with Trump at the White House.
