The feud between Elon Musk and Marco Rubio rocked the White House meeting
On March 6, at a meeting of the US Department of Government Efficiency (DOGE) at the White House, a sharp conflict broke out between famous entrepreneur and DOGE head Elon Musk and US Secretary of State Marco Rubio. This was reported by The New York Times (NYT).

According to the newspaper's sources, Musk verbally attacked Rubio during the meeting. He expressed serious views on reducing staff at the State Department and accused Rubio of inefficiency in this regard. Musk noted that the Secretary of State is not able to fire any employee. This caused serious discontent from Rubio.

In response, Marco Rubio accused Musk of lying and claimed that the State Department had laid off 1,500 employees in exchange for severance pay. He said that in recent weeks he had become increasingly dissatisfied with Musk's approach to government reduction and had made this clear at a White House meeting.

As the argument continued, US President Donald Trump, who was present at the meeting, remained a spectator and watched the discussion for a long time. Only when the argument became too heated did he intervene, praising Rubio's work and saying that he was doing "great work."

According to the NYT, Trump later responded, saying that there was no serious disagreement between Musk and Rubio. However, according to Politico, Trump specifically called a cabinet meeting and reminded Musk that he had only the right to make recommendations on personnel issues. At the same time, he noted that he had taken the first important step towards limiting the powers of the head of DOGE.

Analysts believe that this incident has seriously tested Elon Musk's influence in the government and his views on public administration. The direction of the relationship between the State Department and DOGE is still under question.
