Alexander Lukashenko officially took office as President of Belarus on March 25. During the inauguration ceremony, he took the oath and received the presidential certificate from the Chairman of the Central Election Commission (CEC) Igor Karpenko.

“The ceremony was opened by the Chairman of the Central Election Commission Igor Karpenko, who announced that, in accordance with the will of the Belarusian people, as a result of free and democratic elections, Alexander Lukashenko was elected President of the country,” the Belta news agency reported.

It is noted that Lukashenko placed his hand on the Constitution and took the oath in the Belarusian language. After that, the national anthem was played. The president signed the act of taking the oath and received the presidential certificate from the Chairman of the CEC.

This is Lukashenko's seventh term as president. Earlier, the CEC confirmed the results of the presidential elections in January. In it, Lukashenko collected a record number of votes - 86.82 percent. In the 2020 elections, Alexander Lukashenko collected 80.1% of the votes, in 2015 - 83.47%, in 2010 - 79.65%, in 2006 - 83%, in 2001 - 75.65%, in 1994 - 80.34%.
