One of the world’s most famous and influential billionaires — Bill Gates — has announced his decision regarding inheritance. According to him, his three children — Jennifer, Rory, and Phoebe — will receive less than 1% of his total wealth.
According to Forbes, the Microsoft founder's net worth currently exceeds $101 billion. However, Gates plans to direct the majority of his fortune toward projects that benefit humanity, not his children.
“I don’t want to create a dynasty” — Gates’ stance
In an interview with Indian podcaster Raj Shamani, Bill Gates said:
“I gave my children a great childhood and education. But they will get less than 1% of my wealth because I’ve decided that would not be good for them. I don’t want to create a dynasty. I’m not asking them to run Microsoft.”
The goal — to make wealth serve humanity
Gates’ main focus is the Gates Foundation, which he co-founded with his former wife Melinda in 2000. Today, it is one of the world’s largest private charitable organizations.
Its work focuses on health, education, and poverty alleviation. The foundation contributes to improving the lives of thousands of people across Africa and Asia.
“What matters is love and understanding”
Bill Gates wants his children to rely not on unlimited wealth but on human values:
“It’s important that your children never doubt your love and support. That’s why from an early age you need to explain your philosophy: you treat them equally, give them big opportunities, but most of the money goes to those who need it more.”
According to Gates, his children fully understand and support this decision.
Bill Gates’ approach could set an example for wealthy individuals around the world. His philosophy is simple: wealth is not a goal — it is a tool. If it helps improve lives, only then does it show its true worth. Read 'Zamin' on Telegram!
