Trump: “Putin, Biden, and Zelensky are responsible for the start of the Russia–Ukraine war”

U.S. President Donald Trump, during a meeting at the White House with Salvadoran President Nayib Bukele, made a significant statement regarding the war between Russia and Ukraine. According to him, three leaders — Vladimir Putin, Joe Biden, and Volodymyr Zelensky — are responsible for the outbreak of the conflict.

“The war should not have happened”
Answering journalists’ questions, Trump explained that when he called the recent missile strike on Sumy a “mistake,” he meant the very start of the war. In his view, the error was both military and political.

“Biden could have stopped it. Zelensky too. And Putin shouldn’t have started it at all. Millions of casualties — because of three people,” said Trump.

A “psychological deadline” for Russia
Trump confirmed that the U.S. had set a deadline for Russia to cease fire. While he didn’t specify a date, he had previously mentioned in late March that there was a “psychological deadline” for Moscow.

Negotiations and vague “successes”
During the meeting with Bukele, Trump stated that the U.S. had achieved some success in negotiations to end the war. However, he did not clarify what this success entailed.

“I hope we’ll have some good proposals soon,” he said.

The U.S. began ceasefire talks with Russia and Ukraine in mid-February. Since then, Trump has had several one-on-one conversations with both Putin and Zelensky. Representatives of the three countries also held negotiations in Saudi Arabia.

Partial ceasefire on energy and the Black Sea
Russia and Ukraine agreed to a U.S.-proposed moratorium on strikes against energy infrastructure. Nevertheless, both sides continue to accuse each other of violating the truce.

It was also reported that an agreement was reached regarding the Black Sea. The U.S. and Ukraine confirmed this, while Russia stated it would agree only if sanctions on agricultural exporters were lifted and “Rosselkhozbank” was reconnected to SWIFT. Read 'Zamin' on Telegram!
