The war continues while negotiations stall. Israel has sent Hamas a new proposal for a ceasefire, which was delivered through Egyptian mediators. This was reported by Reuters.
Hamas says no. Israel demands disarmament
According to a senior Hamas official, at least two points in the proposal are completely unacceptable to the group. The Palestinian side has received the proposal and is preparing an official response.
Hamas once again emphasized its core condition: any ceasefire agreement must end the war in Gaza and include the complete withdrawal of Israeli forces from the territory.
The new proposal does not meet these demands:
- Israel does not commit to fully halting military operations;
- For the first time, Israel has demanded Hamas be disarmed as part of future negotiations.
Hamas rejects this condition.
Israel has not issued an official statement
The Israeli government has yet to publicly comment on the proposal. The talks are taking place against the backdrop of ongoing fighting.
Strikes after March 18: little hope for peace
Following the expiration of the two-month ceasefire on March 18, Israel resumed airstrikes on Gaza. In these attacks, targeting Hamas:
- more than 400 people were killed,
- the majority of them women and children;
- over 560 people were injured.
The order to resume attacks came from Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu and Defense Minister Yoav Gallant.
Israel blames Hamas for casualties
Netanyahu blamed Hamas for the lack of progress in negotiations, stating the group is responsible for all “unintended casualties” in Gaza.
He added: “These attacks are just the beginning…”
Israel starts new military strategy
Alongside the renewed ground offensive, Israel has launched a new military strategy:
- creating a buffer zone between the north and south of Gaza;
- isolating Hamas-controlled territories.
Peace feels closer to the front line than the table
Each new proposal, each rejection, pushes peace further away. Hamas refuses to disarm, while Israel treats the conflict as just beginning.
Negotiations continue — but in their shadow lie destruction, loss of life, and an increasingly elusive peace. Read 'Zamin' on Telegram!
