Russian billionaires became richer by $ 15 billion against the backdrop of negotiations with Trump

​In the first months of 2025, Russia's richest billionaires increased their combined wealth by $15 billion, bringing it to $305 billion. According to the Bloomberg Billionaires Index, this growth was due to businessmen who own structures in the metallurgy, mining, telecommunications and technology sectors.

Top gainers

• Alisher Usmanov has made $3.6 billion since the beginning of the year, bringing his total wealth to $16.9 billion. His main assets are located in the metallurgy and telecommunications sectors through the USM holding.​
  
• Andrey Melnichenko, one of the founders of Eurochem and SUEK, became richer by $2.5 billion, bringing his fortune to $22.7 billion.​
  
• Suleiman Kerimov, a senator from Dagestan, became richer by $2.45 billion, taking 311th place in the ranking.​
  
• Vladimir Potanin, a major shareholder of Nornickel and president of Interros holding, became richer by $2.2 billion, taking 57th place in the ranking.​
  

Wealth decliners

• Vladimir Lisin, chairman of the board of directors of NLMK, lost $2.3 billion, bringing his fortune to $23.5 billion.​
  
• Gennady Timchenko, the main shareholder of Novatek and Sibur one of the shareholders, lost $1.57 billion, reducing his fortune to $9.4 billion.​
  
• Mikhail Fridman, one of the founders of Alfa Group, lost $1.45 billion.​
  
• Leonid Mikhelson, chairman of the board of Novatek, lost $1.3 billion.​
  

New and returning billionaires

A total of 22 Russian billionaires were included in the BBI rating. Among them is the founder of the Telegram messenger Pavel Durov. His fortune is estimated at $12.6 billion, having increased by $1.6 billion since the beginning of the year.​

Recall that in April, Forbes updated its list of billionaires. As usual, the top ranks of the rating are occupied by Elon Musk, Mark Zuckerberg and Jeff Bezos. Alisher Usmanov, who was previously listed as a Russian citizen, was first included in the ranking as a representative of Uzbekistan with a fortune of $ 16.7 billion. Later, the ranking was corrected, and Usmanov was again listed as a representative of Russia.

Russian billionaires managed to significantly increase their total wealth at the beginning of 2025, despite economic and geopolitical difficulties. This indicates the effectiveness of their activities in the country's business environment and global markets.
