Russian army losses in Ukraine are approaching one million
The losses of Russian troops in Ukraine have reached very high figures. According to the latest estimates of the military intelligence of the Ministry of Defense of Great Britain, the total losses of the Russian army in the military conflict that began in February 2022 have reached 950 thousand people. These figures include both the dead and the wounded.

According to the ministry's report, the losses of the Russian army in the first four months of 2025 amounted to approximately 160 thousand people. If this rate continues until the end of the year, it is noted that this could be the year with the largest loss of manpower for Russia.

The British Ministry of Defense also noted that despite the high level of daily losses in 2025, Russia has not managed to take control of a significant part of the territory of Ukraine. In April, the daily losses of the Russian army reached an average of 1,200 people, while in March this figure was 1,300.

Earlier, according to calculations by the International Institute for Strategic Studies, the losses of the Russian armed forces since the beginning of the war were estimated at about 800,000 people. At the same time, it was noted that 30-40,000 new soldiers are being recruited into the Russian army every month, which is influenced by large bonuses and strong military propaganda.

Forbes, however, provided an interesting analysis. According to the data they cited, it would take at least 230 years for Russia to occupy the remaining 81 percent of Ukraine's territory at the current pace. It is possible that about 101 million Russian soldiers will die during this period.

Thus, military analysts say that these losses represent a huge sacrifice for Russia, and against this background, the likelihood of a quick end to the war is decreasing.
