Parents in Spain who did not let their children out of the house for four years were arrested

In the Spanish city of Oviedo, police have arrested a 53-year-old German philosopher and his wife for not letting their children out of their home for four years, La Nueva Espana reports.

The parents reportedly did this to protect their family from various diseases, primarily the coronavirus.

The couple have three children — a 10-year-old son and eight-year-old twins. The windows of the house where they live are tightly closed, and communication with the outside world is completely cut off. The family even receives food through couriers.

A neighbor who hears the children's voices but has never seen them walking on the street contacted the police. Law enforcement agencies established surveillance and found that some members of the family do not leave the house at all.

During the investigation, it turned out that the children were neglected. All three were wearing diapers and medical masks, and their behavior when they went outside indicated a high level of sensitivity - for example, they looked at the grass with amazement.

According to the investigation, the parents even created a strict schedule for their children, which even determined when they could go to the toilet. They did not attend school. The children were also given drugs containing medical cannabis.

The couple said that they did this because they were very afraid of coronavirus and other viruses. The children are now in custody, and doctors and social services are working with them. The parents were arrested.
