Houthis accuse Trump of lying: What is really happening in Yemen?
US President Donald Trump's recent statement that the Houthis in Yemen had "surrendered" has attracted widespread public attention. However, the Houthis in Yemen have immediately rejected the statement, which they have called "a lie."

On May 6, President Trump made a speech at the White House, declaring that the Houthis in Yemen no longer want to fight America. According to him, the Houthis have told Washington that they no longer want to fight, and the US has responded by calling off the strikes in Yemen.

"The Houthis have made it clear to us that they no longer want to fight. We respect that and we will stop striking them in Yemen. They have surrendered, and most importantly, we trust them. They have said that they will no longer attack international shipping, and that is exactly what we have asked for," Trump said.

However, shortly after this statement, Zaifullah al-Shami, a member of the Houthi political bureau, categorically denied the US president's words in an interview with Al-Mayadeen TV.

"We have not established any official or unofficial contacts with the Trump team. Such statements of his are baseless and blatant lies. The Houthis have not surrendered and will not surrender. We will continue to resist any aggression against us," Shami stressed.

According to CNN, diplomatic relations between the US, Oman and the Houthis have intensified in recent days. This has led to an increase in diplomatic activity in the region. In particular, it is said that US diplomatic representatives have been holding indirect talks with the Houthis through Oman.

Omani Foreign Minister Badr al-Busaidi made an important statement on social media and stated that diplomatic negotiations on the situation in Yemen can yield positive results.

“In the future, no party should threaten international commercial navigation in the Red Sea and the Bab al-Mandeb Strait, nor should it attack U.S. ships or other international vessels. We call on all parties to work towards peace and stability,” he wrote.

The Houthis (“Ansarullah”) are one of the main parties in the civil war in Yemen, and they are waging an armed struggle not only against the Yemeni government, but also against Saudi Arabia and its allies. They consider the United States and Israel to be their main enemies. The Houthis have also repeatedly attacked international ships in the Red Sea, posing a serious threat to regional security.

It is not yet clear how the situation between the United States and the Houthis will develop, but one thing is certain: peace in Yemen is still a long way off. Diplomatic negotiations are ongoing, and it is natural that the attention of the world community is still focused on the situation in Yemen.
