Amazon, the world's largest e-commerce platform, has significantly updated its corporate logo for the first time in 20 years. This is reported by the Dezeen design portal.
International design studio Koto, working with Amazon's internal team, developed a new visual style for the company. The main goal of the rebranding process was to strengthen Amazon's position on a global scale and ensure consistency across its more than 50 sub-brands.
One of the most important and noticeable changes was a more pronounced appearance of the famous "smile" familiar to everyone. In the previous design, the arrow (that is, the connection between the letters "A" to "Z") was more of a focus. Now, the visual emphasis is on the "smile", which symbolizes the joy and ease of providing customers with. This approach, according to the designers, reflects the company's mission to benefit customers and simplify their lives.
In addition, as part of the new visual strategy, a new corporate font, Amazon Logo Sans, was introduced. This font is used to provide visual unity across multiple subbrands, including Amazon Smile, Amazon Cash, Amazon Echo, and Amazon Jobs. The Ember font, which was previously associated with Kindle products, has also been updated for a more modern look.
Along with the typographic changes, the company announced a color update for the brand style. The new color palette has a brighter and more modern look, and the icon system has been unified. These changes have paid special attention to subbrands such as Amazon Prime, Amazon Grocery, the virtual assistant Alexa, and Amazon One Medical.
According to company representatives, the rebranding reflects Amazon’s future development plans while maintaining the visual identity that is familiar to consumers. This update is carried out ahead of new services and innovative products that the company is expected to introduce soon.
