According to him, if Hamas wants to release Israeli prisoners, this offer will be considered. However, at the same time, the military operation will not be stopped, but will be continued consistently.

US President Donald Trump also commented on the situation. According to him, the release of American soldier Eden Alexander, who was held hostage by the Hamas movement in Palestine on May 12, could be "one of the final steps necessary to end the conflict."

Hope for peace and failed agreements

Let us recall that in early 2025, a reconciliation agreement was signed between Israel and Hamas, mediated by Egypt, Qatar and the US. According to it, 25 of the 33 hostages were released within 42 days, while the remaining 8, unfortunately, died in captivity.

However, the second stage of the reconciliation - negotiations on a ceasefire - has completely stalled. In March, Israel launched a new offensive and revived activity in the Gaza Strip.
