What important agreements were reached during Trump's visit to Saudi Arabia?

US President Donald Trump made his first major foreign visit since taking office on May 13 to the Saudi capital, Riyadh. During the trip, a number of historic agreements were signed between the two countries in the defense, economic and technological spheres. This is reported by the BBC.

According to an official statement from the White House, the United States and Saudi Arabia have signed "the largest defense agreement in history" worth $ 142 billion. This agreement includes the supply of military equipment and services manufactured by about a dozen US defense companies to Saudi Arabia. The agreement covers the following five important areas:

• Strengthening the air force and expanding the capabilities of space technologies;
  
• Developing air and missile defense systems;
  
• Ensuring maritime and coastal security;
  
• Improving border control and modernizing military units on land;
  
• Equipping information and communication systems with new technologies.
  

In addition, the agreement also includes increasing the combat potential of the Saudi Arabian armed forces, strengthening military academies and military medical services.

During Trump's visit, additional important economic agreements were reached between the two countries. In particular, Saudi Arabia pledged to invest a total of $600 billion in the US economy. The bulk of these investments will be directed to the construction of artificial intelligence data centers in America. In turn, major US technology companies have pledged to invest $80 billion in modern and advanced technologies in both countries.

The United States will export $14.2 billion worth of gas turbines and energy technologies to Saudi Arabia, as well as $4.8 billion worth of Boeing 737-8 aircraft. At the same time, agreements were signed to strengthen bilateral cooperation in the energy and mining sectors.

Trump held high-level talks with Saudi Crown Prince Mohammed bin Salman. At the same time, meetings with representatives of the largest Saudi businesses were held by Trump's adviser, the famous billionaire Elon Musk, OpenAI CEO Sam Altman, and Jensen Huang, CEO of computer chip manufacturer Nvidia Corporation.

The visit also included a Saudi-US investment forum, which was attended by leaders of global corporations such as Citigroup, IBM, Qualcomm, Alphabet, and Franklin Templeton.
