Restrictions on movement at the border with Kazakhstan have been extended again: What is the reason?
Temporary restrictions on crossing the border between Kazakhstan and Uzbekistan through the “Tazhen” (“Daut-Ata”) checkpoint have been extended again. This was officially announced by the Ministry of Finance of Kazakhstan, citing the State Revenue Committee, reports Kazinform.

It is reported that the Kazakh side, in agreement with the responsible state authorities of the Republic of Uzbekistan, decided to extend the suspension of the movement of passenger vehicles, buses, and other vehicles weighing up to 3.5 tons for another four months—until September 1, 2025.

The official statement emphasizes that this restriction was introduced to ensure the safety of citizens, as well as to accelerate ongoing construction, renovation, and reconstruction work at the checkpoint.

Currently, extensive and significant construction work is being carried out at the facility, including the installation of metal structures, laying new engineering communications, and capital repair of buildings.

In addition, from May to August, the Kazakh side began constructing a new modern road in the neutral zone between the "Tazhen" and "Daut-Ata" checkpoints. The Uzbek government also supported these measures and planned similar work on its own territory.

Recall that from February 1, 2025, the movement of passenger vehicles and buses through these border checkpoints was temporarily suspended due to construction and reconstruction work.

The Kazakh side noted that upon completion of the construction, crossing the border will become faster, more convenient, and safer for citizens and vehicles.
