Starting from May 30, 2025, significant changes will be made to the procedure for transferring money from the territory of Russia to foreign countries. According to the new rules, Russians and foreign citizens will now be able to send more than 100 thousand rubles abroad only through a bank account. This was reported by the TASS agency.
Previously, this process was much easier - a foreign citizen, including labor migrants, could simply present their passport and send any amount abroad. Now this operation will be fully controlled, and the sender will have to undergo a full check.
What has changed?
According to the new rules, if your transfer exceeds 100 thousand rubles, your mobile wallet or account will have to undergo full identification. Bank employees may also request your personal data and information about the person to whom the money is being sent.
Banks will now have the right to request the following information:
- Purpose of the transfer;
- Full information about the recipient;
- Additional documents (if necessary).
How do officials explain these restrictions?
Russian authorities say that they have introduced these measures to ensure financial security, limit the flow of illegal money, and prevent the legalization of funds from criminal activities.
These restrictions apply to money transfers made through the banking system. However, money transfers from one card to another in another country are not yet restricted. However, experts warn that changes may occur in this area in the near future.
What is needed to open a bank account?
Those planning to send more than 100 thousand rubles will need to open an account. The following documents are required for this:
- A valid passport;
- application for opening an account;
- TIN (personal tax identification number);
- document confirming the place of residence (registration or lease agreement);
- additional documents, depending on the status of an individual or legal entity;
- for entrepreneurs - a certificate of state registration;
- other additional information requested by the bank.
Conclusion: financial discipline is strengthening
The new rules are aimed at ensuring financial transparency in Russia and regulating international money flows. However, these restrictions may create certain inconveniences for labor migrants, business owners and foreigners. Nevertheless, adapting to new requirements and preparing documents is very important for the security of financial transactions today. Read 'Zamin' on Telegram!
