Russia returns bodies of over 1,200 Ukrainian soldiers to Kyiv
The Russian government has handed over the bodies of 1,212 fallen Ukrainian military personnel to official Kyiv. This was reported by Ukraine’s Coordination Headquarters for the Treatment of Prisoners of War.

Among the returned bodies are soldiers who fought in the regions of Kharkiv, Kursk, Luhansk, Donetsk, Zaporizhzhia, and Kherson.

According to the headquarters, the bodies will first be handed over to representatives of law enforcement and forensic medical experts to identify the deceased.

At today’s briefing, Russian Foreign Ministry spokesperson Maria Zakharova also made an important statement. According to her, Russia is fully prepared to implement the Istanbul agreement and return the bodies of 6,000 of its own soldiers and officers to Ukraine.

Zakharova emphasized that this issue is one of the urgent humanitarian matters that should be resolved within the framework of international law.

This exchange of bodies is viewed as a humanitarian gesture of respect for those who lost their lives in the conflict, and a sign of sympathy to their families.

Such humanitarian initiatives are expected to continue in the course of further negotiations.
