Fraudulent call centers exposed and closed in Uzbekistan and Belarus
A major operation against transnational cyber fraud was carried out in cooperation with law enforcement agencies of Russia, Uzbekistan and Belarus. According to Danil Filippov, Deputy Head of the Investigation Department of the Russian Ministry of Internal Affairs, the activities of call centers that were engaged in fraudulently embezzling Russians' money were simultaneously suspended and closed.

International cooperation against fraud

According to Danil Filippov, these call centers located abroad are specifically targeted at Russian citizens, deceiving them in various ways and trying to embezzle their funds. Such centers in Uzbekistan and Belarus were raided and suspended in cooperation with foreign partner agencies.

Although details were not disclosed, investigators and task forces are currently working to fully expose these criminal schemes, identify the remaining participants and bring them to justice.

Large-scale measures within Russia

At the same time, large-scale measures are continuing in Russia itself to identify and eliminate illegal call centers. In large cities such as Moscow, St. Petersburg, Novosibirsk and Yakutia, several such centers have been banned. In particular, there have been cases of obtaining various personal data and convincing citizens to participate in fraudulent schemes.

Resolute fight against crime

In 2024 alone, the Russian Ministry of Internal Affairs sent criminal cases to the courts on more than 10 thousand cases of remote theft and cyber fraud committed by organized criminal groups and criminal gangs. This indicates that specialists and law enforcement agencies are paying serious attention to this problem.

Important warning

Experts are warning that online and telephone fraud is becoming increasingly widespread, and they are urging all citizens to be vigilant and cautious. It is recommended to promptly contact law enforcement agencies in case of dangerous schemes, suspicious calls, or requests from a “bank employee.”
