The Iranian government made a significant statement regarding its nuclear program. The country's Foreign Minister, Abbas Araghchi, during a meeting with foreign diplomats, once again emphasized that Tehran does not intend to produce nuclear weapons and expressed readiness to sign an international treaty to guarantee this.
According to Araghchi, Iran has never aimed to possess nuclear weapons, and this position remains an unchanging principle. Emphasizing that the country is only engaged in peaceful nuclear activities, he stated that Iran is open to new agreements on nuclear disarmament.
Additionally, the minister voiced his position regarding Iran's recent military strikes against Israel. He noted that these actions were carried out in the framework of self-defense.
“If the aggression against Iran stops, we will also halt our retaliatory actions. We never want war, but we also won’t entrust our security to others,” said Araghchi.
This statement is significant given the ongoing complex relations between Iran and the international community. Currently, Western countries — especially the United States and the European Union — are closely monitoring Iran’s nuclear activities. Tehran's proposal could pave the way for easing tensions and finding a diplomatic resolution.
