The escalating conflict between Iran and Israel in the Middle East has entered a new and dangerous phase. The Wall Street Journal, citing a senior Israeli official, reported that Israel is not ruling out the possibility of assassinating Iran's Supreme Leader Ayatollah Ali Khamenei in order to protect itself from a nuclear threat. The source said that the Ayatollah's assassination is "not taboo" for Israel and could be made if it deems it necessary for the country's security.
According to reports, the war between Israel and Iran will continue "until Tehran abandons its nuclear program or until Israel completely destroys this Iranian capability." Israeli officials are not limited to strikes on nuclear infrastructure, but also aim to undermine the enemy's political and military stability. Israel's Channel 12 also reported this, citing a government source.
If we look at the origins and current state of the conflict, on the night of June 13, Israel launched strikes on nuclear and military facilities in response to Iran's efforts to develop a nuclear weapon. As a result of these airstrikes, several leaders of the Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps, as well as leading nuclear physicists, were killed. In particular, the Corps Commander Hossein Salami, Chief of the General Staff of the Iranian Armed Forces Mohammad Baqeri, Commander of the Khatam al-Anbiya Unit Gholam Ali Rashid, and scientists Faridun Abbasi Davani and Azad Mohammad Mahdi Tehranchi were among the victims. A total of 78 people were killed and more than 320 were injured.
In response to these Israeli attacks, Iran's Supreme Leader Ali Khamenei described these actions as open war. "They started the war. We will not allow them to survive after their evil," Khamenei said in his address. On the same evening, Iran's Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps announced the launch of Operation True Promise-3 and launched three missile strikes on Israel.
As the situation becomes increasingly tense, security and peace issues in the region are becoming more urgent. The entire international community is closely watching how decisively Israel can respond to the nuclear threat and what the regional and global consequences will be. Read 'Zamin' on Telegram!
