Trump: Netanyahu, continue the Iran policy

On June 18, U.S. President Donald Trump stated in a press interview that he advises Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu to continue the policy toward Iran. He also announced that the United States currently does not plan full military involvement in this issue.

According to Trump, Netanyahu must resolutely continue the Iran policy on the global stage. “I told Netanyahu: continue,” said the president openly. However, Trump admitted that the U.S. has limitations in providing military aid to Israel — everything would only be in diplomatic and intelligence formats.

Trump also stated that a direct confrontation between the U.S. and Iran is possible. “I can do it, I may not — no one knows,” he warned in response to journalists’ questions.

According to ABC News, the U.S. administration is expected to reach an important decision on Iran policy within the next two days. The New York Times article states that if the U.S. joins a military operation against Iran, Tehran might target U.S. bases in the Middle East and even attempt to mine the Strait of Hormuz.

Trump’s decision is drawing broad attention from the global public. While the leader reflects instability in U.S. global diplomacy, some analysts refer to this position as a “volatile foreign policy,” since Trump determines his decisions not based on strict strategic doctrine but rather on impulses.

Israel is not planning to stop strikes on Iran’s nuclear facilities, and Netanyahu responded, “We are with you.” Trump noted, “Netanyahu is an intolerant and determined strategist,” but he stated he would not support military aid.

Some experts emphasize that this situation should be assessed cautiously, because if the U.S. gets involved militarily, Iran’s response could be harsh, and military conflicts in the region could intensify. This could lead to major geostrategic changes in global politics.
