In recent days, famine, food shortages, and armed conflict in the Gaza Strip have severely worsened the lives of local residents. According to the BBC, based on sources in the region, many civilians have died in the past week due to hunger and attacks.
A young man shot while searching for food
19-year-old Abdullah Jendeia left his home on 20 July to get food but never returned. According to his sister Nadreen, he walked more than 5 kilometers to reach a humanitarian aid truck that comes once a week to collect some flour for the family.
At around 11:00 p.m., Nadreen received a phone call from her brother Mahmoud: while they were standing near the aid truck, Israeli soldiers suddenly opened fire. Abdullah was killed, and his two brothers were injured. The incident happened in the Netzarim Corridor, a military zone separating northern and southern Gaza.
Nadreen remembers her brother as cheerful, sporty, and someone who dreamed of opening his own business after the war.
Victim of airstrike on shelter
29-year-old Mohamed Kullab was killed in an airstrike while resting in his tent in a temporary camp in the al-Qadesiya area of southern Gaza. A few hours after the attack, his family received news of his death.
His brother-in-law Amar Ragaida says he spoke with Mohamed the day before. “He told me: don’t go alone, I’ll try to get you some flour. The next day, he was gone.”
Mohamed was the sole support for his sister and younger brother. Amar describes him as a kind, peaceful person full of life.
