Striving for peace: A 38-year-old woman's new life in a “village for the elderly”

A 38-year-old Australian woman went through difficult challenges in her life and, after her divorce, made an unexpected decision — she moved to a village where only elderly people live, reports pravilamag.ru. At first, this might not have seemed like the best idea to her, but after more than a year spent in this place, she realized she had truly found her own place.

After ending her relationship, she first left her apartment, as rent turned out to be too expensive and she had to quickly find a new solution. One day, while visiting her aunt, she learned about the village for the elderly. Her aunt convinced her that age would not be a problem, and together they submitted the application to move.

This decision turned out to be not only the most reasonable financially, but also the best for her mental health. “Here, a small two-room apartment is five times cheaper than on the outskirts of Melbourne. Most importantly, I found real peace here,” she says.

Life in the village has become a true “therapy” for her. She has made friends with the locals, goes for walks every day, does yoga, rides a bike, plays bingo, and works as a freelancer. In the evenings, she goes shopping with friends, cooks meals, or has long conversations on the veranda.

“I have never felt so calm and unique. People here are not in a rush, they are not absorbed by technology, and that has had a very positive effect on me. It turns out that being 70–80 is not so bad,” she says.

The 38-year-old woman says the village for the elderly has brought new brightness and meaning to her life, that at any age one can stay active, make new friends, and start new hobbies. However, her family still cannot fully accept her decision — her parents advise her to move out. But she is happy with her choice and says she has no plans to leave this place any time soon.

In conclusion: everyone can find happiness at any age and in any place. The main thing is to look at life from a new angle and strive for peace.
