In Moscow, the special services of the Russian Federation and Uzbekistan jointly struck a major terrorist network. According to the Public Relations Center of the FSB, nine foreign citizens engaged in recruiting labor migrants into the ranks of an international terrorist organization banned in the country were detained in Russia.
It is reported that this operation was carried out in cooperation between the State Security Service, the Federal Security Service, and the Investigative Committee of the Russian Federation. According to investigative authorities, the detainees operated within a cell of the international terrorist organization and worked in coordination with ideological leaders located in the territory of the European Union. They sought by various means to recruit migrants living in Russia into their ranks.
During the operation, law enforcement officers managed to collect concrete evidence of these individuals’ recruitment activities. According to the information, until April 2025 they actively carried out propaganda work in Moscow. The recruiters organized secret meetings and even held videoconferences via the Telegram messenger, instilling in migrants radical teachings based on the ideas of the so-called “global caliphate.”
Two individuals, aged 38 and 39, have been charged under Part 1 of Article 205.5 of the Criminal Code of the Russian Federation (organization of the activities of a terrorist organization and participation in the activities of such an organization) and have been taken into custody.
During the search, law enforcement officers seized propaganda materials of the terrorist organization, means of communication, electronic information carriers, and documents containing information about the forms and methods of terrorist activity.
Authorities emphasized that such joint operations will continue in the future, and all measures will be taken to ensure security on the territory of Russia.
