Five journalists killed in Israeli strike in Gaza
Near Al-Shifa Hospital in Gaza City, an Israeli airstrike killed five Al Jazeera staff members. This was reported in the broadcaster’s official statement.

According to reports, the strike occurred while they were in a tent for journalists near the hospital’s main gate.

Al Jazeera described the incident as “another open and planned attack on freedom of speech.” According to the channel’s managing editor, Mohamed Moawad, one of the journalists, Anas al-Sharif, “was the only voice conveying the reality of Gaza to the world.”

After the strike, the Israel Defense Forces (IDF) issued a statement accusing al-Sharif of being “a leader of a terrorist group in Hamas.” However, the IDF did not comment on the deaths of the other journalists.

According to Al Jazeera, a total of seven people were killed in the attack. Initially, four staff members were reported dead, but this figure was later updated to five.

International organizations and journalist protection groups had previously warned of dangerous conditions and the threat of starvation for media workers in Gaza. According to the Committee to Protect Journalists (CPJ), since the start of Israel’s military operations in October, at least 186 journalists have been killed.
