The wife of the President of the Republic of Turkey, Recep Tayyip Erdogan, and the country’s First Lady, Emine Erdogan, recently sent a sincere and emotional letter to US President Donald Trump’s wife, Melania Trump. This was reported by Anadolu news agency.
In the letter, Mrs. Erdogan recalled her personal meeting with Melania six years ago at the White House and mentioned her letter to Russian President Vladimir Putin. In doing so, she expressed her desire to continue past relations in a new context.
“The right of children to grow up in a caring and safe environment is universal and shared worldwide. This right does not depend on race, religion, or ideology, and it belongs equally to every human being. Helping those deprived of this right is one of humanity’s greatest duties,” emphasized the First Lady of Turkey.
Emine Erdogan recalled Melania Trump’s attention to 648 Ukrainian children killed in the war and stressed the importance of showing similar concern for the catastrophic situation in the Gaza Strip. According to her, more than 62,000 civilians, including over 18,000 children, have died there in the past two years.
“In Gaza, every 45 minutes a child dies. It is no coincidence that the UN calls this region a ‘hell’ and a ‘cemetery of children.’ A child’s life should not be considered cheap,” said Emine Erdogan.
She pointed out that children in Gaza suffer not only from physical difficulties but also from deep psychological trauma. Therefore, they too deserve a happy, free, and peaceful future.
Mrs. Erdogan urged Melania Trump to send a special letter to Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu, calling for an end to the humanitarian catastrophe.
“The world is equally concerned about the Palestinian issue. Your firm appeal would be a historical responsibility before the Palestinian people. As a mother and as a human being, I deeply feel the sincerity in your words and hope you will bring a spark of hope to the children of Gaza,” concluded the First Lady of Turkey.
Thus, Emine Erdogan’s appeal once again drew international attention to the fate of children and expressed hope for solidarity from Melania Trump in the humanitarian initiative.
