U.S. Vice President J.D. Vance openly stated that if anything happens to America’s leader Donald Trump, he is ready to become head of state. At the same time, Vance expressed confidence that Donald Trump will remain in office until the end of his presidential term — i.e., the remark was voiced as a hypothetical scenario, nothing more.
In an interview with USA Today he said: “Over the last 200 days I have undergone solid on-the-job preparation.” According to Vance, Donald Trump’s health is good: “He has unbelievable energy,” the vice president added.
Brief bio: J.D. Vance is 41. Since January 2023 he has served in the U.S. Congress as a Republican senator from Ohio. Before the 2016 election Vance criticized Donald Trump, but later changed his position and supported him in the 2020 election. Before entering politics he served in the U.S. Marine Corps, worked as a reporter during military operations in Iraq, and then graduated from Yale University’s law school.
It is worth noting here that on August 6 Donald Trump said he might put forward J.D. Vance as the Republican nominee in the 2028 presidential election.
In short, Vance presents himself both as a loyal partner and as a political figure ready to assume responsibility if needed; the main message, however, is that Trump is physically stable and the administration is prepared for any scenario.
