Kim Jong Un met with families of soldiers killed in Ukraine for Russia
North Korean leader Kim Jong Un met with the families of soldiers who died fighting in Ukraine on the side of Russia. He expressed his condolences to them and handed over the soldiers’ photographs wrapped in a flag in their memory.

The ceremony was held in Pyongyang. In his speech, Kim Jong Un expressed regret that he could not bring the soldiers back alive. He also promised to build a monument in honor of the fallen and to take care of their children.

According to South Korea, North Korea sent about 15,000 soldiers to support Russia. Missiles and weapons were also dispatched with them. In return, Pyongyang reportedly received food and technical assistance.

Western officials stated that hundreds of North Korean soldiers had been killed in the battles. Several thousand soldiers were reported wounded.

Next week, Kim Jong Un will meet Russian President Vladimir Putin at a military parade in China. Over the past two years, this will be their third meeting, with cooperation between the two countries observed to be strengthening.
