The Iranian government has unexpectedly tightened visa procedures for Russian citizens. Now Russians will not be able to apply independently - visas will be issued only through Iranian tour operators who cooperate with travel companies in Russia. This was reported by the Association of Tour Operators of Russia.
The Iranian Embassy in Moscow emphasized that these measures are related to the tense situation in the Middle East region. The main goal is to prevent the entry of "undesirable persons" into the country.
The new restrictions came after a 12-day armed conflict between Iran and Israel. During this period, some high-ranking Iranian officials accused Russia of transmitting information to Israel.
Experts believe that such a decision could lead to a cooling of relations between the two countries. At the same time, the process of traveling to Iran for Russian tourists will become much more complicated than before.
Iranian officials consider the new procedure a necessary step towards ensuring the country's security and preventing external threats.
