Reports of a horrific crime that shocked the Turkish public have spread. Prosecutor Erjan Kayhan was stabbed to death in Istanbul. The incident was widely covered in the local press and caused a great stir throughout the country.
According to Sabah newspaper, 19-year-old Mustafa Jon Gul, suspected of the crime, has been arrested. He was detained immediately after the murder and interrogated promptly. By court order, the young man was sent to prison.
It turned out that two years ago, Mustafa John Gul worked as a waiter in a restaurant where a murder had occurred. He was acquainted with the prosecutor Erjan Kayhan, who frequently visited there. After some time, a dispute arose between them, the reasons for which were not disclosed.
Investigators say that it is assumed that the young man intended to take revenge after this incident. After that, he attacked the prosecutor with a knife and put an end to his life.
The criminal's past also attracted public attention. According to reports, Mustafa John Gul was previously found guilty of a number of crimes. He was prosecuted for acts of violence against women, violation of the inviolability of the home, and constant harassment.
The young man served his sentence in the Maltepe prison from November 9, 2024, to January 15, 2025. After that, it turned out that he had been released, but had not retreated from the criminal path.
The Istanbul police and prosecutor's office strongly condemned the incident. Local media and the public emphasize that this murder is a serious test for the Turkish law enforcement and justice system.
