In Japan, a pensioner woman fell for "a fake astronaut"

In Japan, an 80-year-old pensioner woman believed a “fake astronaut” and lost a large sum of money. She had been communicating via social networks with a man who introduced himself as a real astronaut, reports Pravilamag.

After some time, the man told her that he faced difficulties at work and needed help due to an emergency. The “astronaut” claimed that he was allegedly in space on an aircraft and that after an attack he “needed to buy oxygen.”

The caring woman believed him and transferred $6,700 to another account, providing financial assistance. This money was said to be used for “oxygen purchase,” but in fact, it went into the hands of the fraudster.

According to reports, during the communication, the woman felt lonely and even developed personal feelings towards her interlocutor. That is why no one was able to stop her in time.
