In the German city of Jülich, the exaplopse supercomputer, officially named Jupiter, was launched. It is based on Nvidia's modern processors and incorporates high-level technological innovations. This supercomputer is capable of performing quintillions of mathematical operations per second, equivalent to the total processing power of approximately 10 million ordinary laptops.
The French IT group Atos and the German company ParTec took an active part in the development of the project. At the opening ceremony, German Chancellor Friedrich Mers emphasized that this project could help Europe maintain its competitive advantage with the US and China in the field of artificial intelligence and high-tech research.
Jupiter supercomputer is planned to be widely used not only for computer power but also in biotechnology, climate research, qualified modeling, and other scientific fields.
