New threats related to Russia's European policy and defense capabilities may become apparent to the public in the coming years. According to Kirill Budanov, the head of the Intelligence Directorate of Ukraine's Ministry of Defense, Russia has been implementing its largest and most extensive rearmament program in many years, with the acceleration phase of this process extended until 2030. He revealed this information in an interview with the Apostrof TV channel.
Budanov emphasized that although such a threat to European countries is not currently manifesting openly, this forecast is largely related to Russia's strategic plans and intentions. "They are planning and preparing," the intelligence chief said. This statement indicates that this process is already being implemented systematically and includes a long-term strategy.
The head of the Main Intelligence Directorate also added that the European side is aware of this threat. According to him, European countries are currently cognizant of such plans, but their reaction will become evident over time. This can have a serious impact on the regional and international political landscape.
"Currently, a program for the development of large-scale weapons is being prepared. This is essentially the rearmament of the Russian Federation by 2037. The acceleration rate is set until 2030. This program is one of the largest and most significant since the 1980s. Currently, this program is not only included in the budget of the Ministry of Defense of the Russian Federation but also applies to the strategy of modern armament and rearmament of the entire Russian Federation," he said.
According to Budanov, approximately $1.2 trillion is being allocated for this program. This requires not only substantial economic resources but also strategic and military capabilities. At the same time, this provides a clear picture of Russia's goals and plans for modern armament and rearmament.
