In the US, tariffs are weighing heavily on manufacturers. The company Matouk is forced to spend more than $100,000 in extra expenses each month. The reason is the high fees on fabrics and other products imported from India and Portugal.
Experts say these measures are not bringing benefits, but instead are raising prices and reducing the funds companies can spend on new equipment and development.
Local entrepreneur Frank Teixeira also said that such policies will harm the US economy in the long run. According to him, restoring manufacturing will become even more difficult.
At the same time, while some business owners want fair trade, for now tariffs are causing additional expenses and reduced profits for many small and medium-sized companies.
