In the Netherlands, a tree trunk has become a favorite library

An unusual initiative was implemented in the peaceful and tranquil village of Ruurlo in the Netherlands. He began building a chestnut tree, which has been a historical symbol for the villagers for several centuries. Initially, residents thought about cutting it down, as there were opinions that there would be no benefit from a dried tree. But the local carpenter Rene Bruns approached this situation differently.

His idea was to create a community library that would serve the neighbors. For this purpose, he processed the tree trunk and gave it a second life. Bruns made several small compartments, covered them with waterproof glass doors, and painted them orange to give them a beautiful look.

It took him almost three months to implement this project. The results of the work delighted the villagers - a new form of "open-air library" began its activities.

Neighbors brought various books, children's books, manuals, and stories from their homes, filling the library shelves. This initiative has become a place of spiritual recreation, learning, and communication with rural residents not only for young people but also for adults.

Meanwhile, this tree library in Ruurlo has become one of the village's favorite places. It contributes not only to the development of reading, but also to the preservation of the environment and social cohesion.
