North Korea executes those who watch foreign films
According to a UN report, the North Korean government has begun executing citizens who watched or shared foreign films and TV series. Refugees say that since 2020 such people have been shot dead in public.

The report notes that control over the country’s population has greatly increased and people’s freedoms have been restricted. Citizens cannot trade independently, and leaving the country is almost impossible.

Refugees said they had hoped life would improve when Kim Jong Un came to power. However, with more focus on the nuclear program, living conditions have worsened and finding food has become difficult.

The UN stated that forced labour and prison camps still exist in North Korea. The organization demanded that Pyongyang stop executions and give citizens more rights.
