Egypt resumes the initiative to create "Arab NATO"

The Egyptian government recently put forward an initiative to create a new military alliance among the Arab states - a structure that can be conditionally called "Arab NATO." This was reported by World Israel News.

According to reports, this idea was first proposed almost nine years ago, but remained unrealized. Later, after Israel's strike on Qatar, this issue became relevant again.

According to Cairo's proposal, if a new alliance is formed, Egypt is ready to send about 20,000 military personnel to it. At the same time, it is envisaged to develop a special mechanism that will ensure their "availability in case of need" and will be formed in accordance with the armies and population of Arab countries.

As the unnamed Egyptian official stated, Egypt intends to assume the leading role in managing this military unit. Saudi Arabia may be at the next level, and then one of the Gulf states is considered the main partner.

Thus, it is noticeable that Cairo is striving to increase its geopolitical influence in the region by uniting Arab states in a single defense system.
