UN commission recognized Israel’s actions in Gaza as genocide

The United Nations Independent International Commission has officially recognized Israel’s actions in the Gaza Strip as genocide. This was reported by RIA Novosti agency.

The commission’s report states that the Israeli government pursued a policy aimed at destroying Palestinians as a group. In particular, it highlights that various measures were introduced to restrict the population’s ability to reproduce, including methods preventing childbirth. It also emphasizes that harsh living conditions were created, leading to the physical destruction of Palestinians.

The report stressed that these actions fully meet the criteria of genocide defined in the Rome Statute and the “Convention on the Prevention and Punishment of the Crime of Genocide.”

The main conclusions of the commission are as follows:

  • Israel is currently continuing genocide in the Gaza Strip, and these actions have become the most brutal phase since 1948;

  • the country’s political and military leaders, including Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu, openly called for this process;

  • Tel Aviv failed to fulfill its duty to protect the enclave’s population and to prevent genocide;

  • states must use all means to stop the actions of the Israeli army in Gaza and other occupied territories.

The UN commission’s report has sparked wide discussions in the international community. It states that the current situation poses a serious threat to the future of the entire region.
