According to Palestinian Deputy Foreign Minister Umar Awadalla, the ongoing casualties in the Gaza Strip and Israel's actions on the West Bank and in Jerusalem have significantly impacted the international community's position. In his opinion, the process of recognizing Palestinian statehood has significantly accelerated in recent months and is a logical result of diplomatic efforts over the years.
As Avadalla emphasized, this process is not just a political success, but a reality that arose against the backdrop of the violation of the rights of the Palestinian people and the massacres being carried out against them. In his opinion, international recognition is gaining importance as "the most important practical step towards implementing the two-state solution."
At the same time, the Deputy Minister noted that "the idea of creating a new Middle East without a Palestinian state has become a mirage that will never be realized."
In recent weeks, the United Kingdom, Canada, and Australia have officially recognized the State of Palestine. France is expected to make a similar decision in the coming days. To date, 147 of the 193 UN member states have already recognized Palestine as a sovereign state.
Thus, international trends signify a new stage in the process of recognizing Palestinian statehood. According to experts, this process could have a serious impact on subsequent geopolitical events.
