French President Emmanuel Macron drew the attention of the world community ahead of the anniversary session of the UN General Assembly in New York. His statement specifically noted the significant change in US President Donald Trump's tone towards Russia.
"I am pleased that the American president believes in Ukraine's ability not only to be resilient, but also to defend its rights and territorial integrity in our ranks," Macron said in his speech.
The French leader also positively assessed Trump's remarks on the weakening of the Russian economy and the losses among Moscow troops. "During the war, which has been going on for more than 1,000 days - despite thousands of victims and civilians, Russia has taken control of only one percent of the territory of Ukraine," he added.
On the same day, Donald Trump also addressed the public, emphasizing that Ukraine, with the support of the European Union and NATO, is capable of reclaiming its historical borders. He announced this on his Truth Social page after a meeting with Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy.
"With time, patience, and financial support from Europe, especially NATO, Ukraine can reclaim all its territories. Russia has been waging war for three and a half years, and in reality, a truly strong army would have needed even a week to achieve such a victory," the White House leader said.
These statements further strengthened the atmosphere of solidarity among Western countries and increased the likelihood of increased political pressure on Russia in the international arena.
