The construction of the world's largest airplane began in Italy

For the first time in history, the construction of the world's largest airplane has begun in Italy. According to information from the Euro Puls portal, this airplane is specially being built for the wind energy sector and is named Radia WindRunner.

The main goal of the project is to transport enormous blades produced for new generation wind turbines. According to the data, the length of these blades reaches 104 meters. This is about 30 meters longer than the blades used for conventional wind generators.

Experts say that the new turbines use wind energy much more efficiently. They require less cost compared to solar power plants or nuclear energy and allow for the production of more electricity. However, the main problem arose in delivering such large blades to their destination.

The blades cannot be assembled structurally on-site. Trucks cannot transport these enormous constructions due to road turns or narrow tunnels. Planes and helicopters are also unsuitable for such large-sized cargo. Dirigibles, in turn, cannot carry heavy loads because of their lightness.

Therefore, the only practical solution found at the moment is to build a completely new huge airplane. Its parameters are truly impressive: the height is equal to a six-story building (24 meters), and the length is 108 meters. The total wingspan is planned to reach 80 meters.

Experts emphasize that this project can not only solve the transport problem in wind energy but also start a new era in the history of aviation.
