Mulikat Ogunmode, who worked as a cleaner in the British Parliament, was fired after it was revealed that he had worked 17 hours a day for 16 years. Ogunmode worked at Deutsche Bank during the day from 2008 to 2024, and in the UK Parliament during the night. He regularly violated British labor laws by violating the minimum 11-hour rest time between two jobs.
After Ogunmode's misconduct was exposed, Parliament dismissed him. He appealed to the employer in court, claiming that he was unfairly fired and that there were unfair deductions from his wages. However, the court rejected Ogunmode's claims.
The judge emphasized that Ogunmode's disorder during its operation posed a threat not only to its health and safety but also to the interests of society. Furthermore, Ogunmode was held liable for failing to provide the employer with accurate information about a second job. This event demonstrates the need for serious attention to work and leisure time laws in Britain.
