Trump spoke rudely to Netanyahu, calling the plan a "victory"

According to a US publication citing a source in Axios, President Donald Trump used obscene language during a phone call with Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu to instill confidence that the process surrounding his peace initiative in Gaza was "successing."

Following statements on October 3rd that Hamas representatives had expressed a positive reaction to Trump's plan, the White House leader was accused of calling Bibi (Netanyahu) immediately, considering it "good news." However, the Israeli Prime Minister described this response as "not a reason to celebrate," writes Axios.

The source notes that it was this response that angered Trump: "I don't know why you're always such a nasty negative. This is a victory, accept it," the US president said sharply.

According to political commentators, this controversy demonstrates how seriously Trump personally approaches his plan and places high hopes on him. Thus, along with a number of complex issues between Washington and Tel Aviv, the burden and pressure on the Gaza talks are also increasing.

As a reminder, Donald Trump's 20-point peace plan regarding Gaza was announced on September 29th during a meeting with Netanyahu in Washington. The document provides for the release of all Israeli hostages, the surrender of Hamas, the introduction of humanitarian aid to the enclave, and the transfer of Gaza to the temporary administration under international control.

Despite the fact that the parties still maintain sharply different approaches to this issue, American officials emphasize that "action on the plan is continuing." The Israeli side, however, maintains a cautious position from a security perspective.
