Kim Jong Un: "special resources" as a response to the US

North Korean leader Kim Jong Un announced that North Korea has activated "special resources" in response to Washington's increase in the number of troops in South Korea. This statement, made during a visit to the military exhibition dedicated to the 80th anniversary of the creation of the Workers' Party of Korea, was announced by KMTA on Sunday, October 5.

"I believe our enemies should seriously think about their own safety," Kim Jong Un said. He noted that "the US-South Korea nuclear alliance is rapidly expanding, and various exercises are being conducted to test dangerous scenarios in practice. As the US increases its military capabilities in the south, our strategic concerns regarding the region are also growing," AFP writes.

The IAEA did not disclose exactly what "special resources" are. However, the images released by the agency show Kim Jong-un, accompanied by generals, passing through a closed pavilion with various weapons, including missiles.

According to Seoul officials, Pyongyang is strengthening military cooperation with Moscow and deepening ties with Beijing. As a reminder, Kim Jong Un visited China in September.

According to AFP, the US will permanently maintain approximately 28.5 thousand troops in the southern part of the Korean Peninsula to counter northern threats. Washington also held joint Iron Mace exercises with South Korea and Japan on September 15-19.

At a time when military rhetoric is intensifying, the DPRK's reference to "special resources" indicates a further deterioration of the balance and security agenda in the region.
