Preliminary ceasefire agreement reached in Gaza

Preliminary ceasefire agreement reached in Gaza
US President Donald Trump announced that Israel and Hamas have agreed on the first stage of a ceasefire. The talks were held in Egypt, and both sides approved the first part of Trump’s 20-point peace plan.

According to the plan, the Israeli army will withdraw from about half of Gaza’s territory. Hamas will release 20 hostages, while Israel will free 250 Palestinian prisoners. Humanitarian aid will also begin entering Gaza by truck.

In the next stage, Gaza will be demilitarized and temporarily administered by Palestinian experts. The process will be overseen by a council led by Donald Trump.

However, disagreements remain between the sides. Hamas refuses to disarm, and Israel opposes the involvement of the Palestinian Authority. Still, the agreement is seen as an important step toward peace.
